Free Horse Racing Tips

One of my hobbies is studying horse racing form. I keep a 'Private Handicap' which rates the performance of horses, both Flat and National Hunt. This method pinpoints horses that are well-in at the weights for their particular races. Whenever I feel a horse is worth a mention I will publish it in the Blankney Journal. We should have a lot of fun with these selections.

Blankney History

One of the things I hope to achieve through Blankney Journal is to hear from people who knew Blankney a long time ago and are willing to share memories and anecdotes. Perhaps you or your relatives may once have lived in the village. Possibly you may know someone who was billited in Blankney Hall at the time it was destroyed by fire, in the autumn of 1945, whilst commandeered by the RAF. Perhaps you may know of someone who worked in the stables for Lord Londesborough, prior to the second world war. Any information, however trivial or insignificant it may seem, would be gratefully appreciated.

Happy New Year

As this is the first day of a new year and this is my very first post, it would seem appropriate, to use this message to wish everyone wherever they may be a very Happy and Prosperous New Year for 2009.

Share A Laugh

From time to time I hear a joke, or read an e-mail, which I think is very funny. When this happens I will share it with any readers visiting the Blankney Journal site. I would also welcome any humourous stories sent in by readers which I would be happy to publish. These stories together with a few puzzles and brain teasers should make the journal more entertaining.

Tightrope Walker Sets German Record

A new record for tightrope walking was successfully set in Germany on Sunday. Freddy Nock of Switzerland walked up a 995 metre-long cable car wire to the top of Germany's highest mountain of Zugspitze.
